The 2018 NYC Marathon with Team NYU FACES!

One our favorite times of year is just days away, the TCS New York City Marathon

This is my 4th year coaching athletes from the NYU Langone Medical Center, team NYU FACES (FINDING A CURE FOR EPILEPSY AND SEIZURES). FACES funds research to improve epilepsy care, advances new therapies, and fosters a supportive community for children, families and caregivers who live with the challenges of epilepsy. Over 3 million people live with epilepsy everyday!

All of the athletes on the team currently live with the disease, have a child or someone close to them fighting the illness. One of our athletes, Richie Shane had lived with the disease for over 20 years, having seizures daily, until he found NYU Langone Medical Center. The amazing staff of doctors including Dr. Devinsky performed brain surgery on Richie and gave him a new lease on life, he is now cured of the disease. This will be Richies 5th NYC Marathon, what an amazing journey. To learn more about Richies miracle from an interview he did on Good Morning LaLa Land, watch below.

We can’t wait to see all of you on Sunday, have a great time out there everyone! — Elizabeth Azze
