JAN WELLFORD
MPF RNR Athlete
Jan's endurance background dates to 2003, when he moved to the Adirondacks and started exploring the High Peaks (46 mountain peaks). Fast hiking and long backcountry climbs and skis were his passion, with plenty of running mixed in especially after he became interested in ultras in 2006. With the birth of his first child in 2012 he decided to focus on running, knowing that long days in the mountains would be few and far between, and he also took up cross-country ski racing in the winter. He is a stay-at-home dad, and he sometimes blogs at his personal site, www.adkrunner.com.
Some of Jan's most notable achievements include the supported and unsupported (with Cory Delavalle) speed records for the 46 Adirondack High Peaks; summiting 24 ADK high peaks in 24hrs; past FKTs for the Presidential Traverse, Pemi Loop, and Great Range; 3rd place at the 2013 VT50 with a time of 6:40 and a 1st place in a strong field at the 2014 Manitou's Revenge ultra.
