2025 Arches Ultra 50k
This past weekend, we had the opportunity to return to the Moab area, but this time was to help some of our athletes make it to the finish line of the Arches Ultra 50k.
The finish line often is the only goal one works toward. Everyone is not participating for a time goal; some are there to challenge themselves by completing the distance. We are lucky that we have all age groups on our roster, some going for the win while others are going for a challenge of a lifetime by finishing the distance.
Athlete Highlights
Marcia joined our roster 4 years ago, wanting to become a trail runner, then ultimately an ultra trail runner. This weekend, in her 57th year, her ultimate goal was accomplished; she became an ultra runner! We share age here because it really is never too late to try something new or challenge yourself. For some, they’re just beginning. So far, the trails have brought her to Colorado, Mont Blanc, Moab, New Jersey, and Florida, where she currently lives. Trails take your mind to places you would never think of.
Chris finished his first ultra at the age of 60 and completed his 4th this weekend at the Arches 50k. So far, now at age 61, he has completed 3 50ks and a 50-miler. Their weekly schedule is very strength-based: minimum 3 days of focused strength and mobility, with 7-10 hours of targeted aerobic work, not all running.
A bit of discipline, drive, passion, and consistency will allow you to reach heights you never thought possible. Don’t let age define your health.
Shout out to Mad Moose Events; it was wonderful to feel the ultra spirit alive and well. All ages, all levels were out seeing what they had on that day. It is so inspiring to crew, pace, or volunteer at any trail event. We can’t recommend it enough. See you again soon. Photos: @joeazze @elizabethazze
