The trail and atmospheric conditions this year at Manitou's Revenge were challenging to say the least, with hot, humid air, and slick rocks giving us runners an even greater challenge than usual. Instead of a race report this time, I decided to try a gear report. I figure if those conditions were not tough enough to test some gear, I don’t know what would be.

I tend to be pretty picky about my running shorts, more so than most of my other gear. I run in shorts down to about 25 degrees outside, so I spend a good bit of the year in shorts. I don't like my shorts too long or too short; I like a certain cut.

About five years ago when I really started getting into the outdoors and trail running, I learned of all these amazing places: New Zealand, Patagonia, the dolomites, the PCT, AT, etc. How long would it take for me to travel to all these places while still trying to race, work and spend time with friends or even find friends who would want to go with you!?
